In addition to the dates listed in the website calendar, you’ll find the key dates for each semester in the semester schedule:

How is the program organized during each semester?

The curriculum for each degree program clearly specifies when the theoretical and practical phases take place during the course of study.You will receive a class schedule for each semester well in advance of the start of classes via the LSF.Here’s how to access the schedule: Courses -> Degree Program Plans -> select your degree program -> enter a “from” and “to” semester range (for example, 1 to 1 for the first semester) -> you’ll now see a weekly view and can review the schedule for each weekCourses begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and end no later than 7:15 p.m. However, there may occasionally be days in the schedule when no courses are scheduled. These days are intended for self-study.

What is an SPO, and where can I find one?

Your SPO (Study and Examination Regulations) describes the structure and rules governing your degree program. It is essential that you read it. You can find the relevant SPO in the LSF under “My SPO” or on the website under Student Services in the Examination Office.

Does RWU also offer introductory courses?

Yes, the Department of University Pedagogy offers a preparatory math course to help you get ready for your studies. This course always begins before the lectures start and helps you get started with the first-semester math lectures. We also offer the elective module “Studienstart,” which is designed to help you orient yourself and improve your academic skills.You can find more information about our preparatory courses and support services on our website Preparatory Courses.

Where can I find information about financial assistance?

You can find the most important resources for financial assistance on our website under the menu item Financing and Insurance.

Where can I find more information about the start of the academic year for enrolled students?

Using your login credentials, you can log in to our QM portal and download our current college guide there. You can find it using the search function on the portal or via the following link to the University Guide. The university guide contains all important contact information and points of contact at RWU.

A warm welcome to RWU!

Starting college marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in your life. The first few days are thrilling and full of new experiences and impressions, but also full of questions.

To help you quickly find your way around RWU and start your first semester well-prepared, we offer three orientation days for first-semester students before classes begin. These days include a central orientation session for all first-semester students, introductory sessions and required courses for your degree program, tours of central facilities, and insights into our student groups and initiatives where you can network.

We look forward to welcoming you here at RWU and wish you a successful start to your studies.

FAQ: Starting Your Studies

Welcome at the Weingarten Culture and Convention Center

The joint welcome event for all first-semester students from all degree programs at RWU will take place at the Weingarten Culture and Convention Center. If you’d like, you can walk to the venue from the parking lot at Building C on the RWU campus together with the Student Union and the student councils, or you can go directly to the Culture and Convention Center.
