A warm welcome to RWU!
Starting college marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in your life. The first few days are thrilling and full of new experiences and impressions, but also full of questions. What happens next? What will the first few days of college bring? When will things be explained, and who can I turn to for help?
To help you quickly find your way around RWU and start your first semester well-prepared, we’re offering three orientation days for first-semester students before classes begin. These days consist of a central orientation session for all first-semester students, introductory sessions and required courses for your degree program, tours of central facilities, as well as insights into our student groups and initiatives where you can network.
We look forward to welcoming you here at RWU and wish you a successful start to your studies.

Welcome at the Weingarten Culture and Convention Center
The joint welcome event for all first-semester students from all degree programs at RWU will take place at the Weingarten Culture and Convention Center. You have the option of walking to the venue together with the Student Council and the departmental student associations from the parking lot at Building C on the RWU campus, or you can go directly to the Culture and Congress Center.
At the Culture and Congress Center, you will be welcomed by the City of Weingarten and our university administration and will gain insights into the faculties, the Student Union, and the departmental student councils. After the presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive insight into our university and get to know the various departmental student councils through the diverse program they’ve organized on the RWU campus.

Welcome to the On-Campus Degree Programs
On the second day, students will be welcomed to RWU based on their degree program. You can find the time and location of your program’s welcome session in the program. Faculty and staff from your department will introduce themselves. You’ll also learn how your individual class schedules are created and how to register for classes.
In short: This event is very important for you, so you should definitely attend!
Afterward, the student councils will introduce themselves, and you’ll have the opportunity to spend your lunch break with the Student Union and the student councils. After lunch, you can get a comprehensive overview of our university through the student councils’ varied program on the RWU campus.

Mandatory Events and Introduction to Institutions and Initiatives
On this day, student initiatives and organizations at RWU—such as the Central Student Advisory Service, the Formula Student Team, and the Seezeit Student Services—will be introducing themselves in the foyer of the main building. RWU thrives on student participation. To help shape the university, a wide variety of student initiatives have been founded. Through your involvement, you too can not only actively help shape RWU but also gain valuable experience, network with other students, and improve your prospects in the job market.
Please note that several important mandatory events will also take place on this day:
- The Introduction to the Examination System
- The presentation on occupational safety and fire safety at the university
Wednesday, October 7
On this day, get to know various university initiatives and groups, as well as other institutions, each of which will be introducing itself with a booth in the foyer of the H Building.
The following events are also on the program:
- An introduction to the university’s examination system by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Mauser (approx. 30 minutes), mandatory session
- Presentation on occupational safety and fire safety at the university by Mr. Ries (approx. 30 minutes), mandatory event
- Presentation and tour of the Teaching and Learning Center
- Introduction to and tour of the university library
- Lecture: “Scholarships for Financing Your Studies” by Prof. Dr. Marius Hofmeister (approx. 30 minutes)
- Prevention lecture titled “Staying Safe on the Go: Preventing Sexual Violence in Public Spaces” by the Ravensburg Police Department, Prevention Division (approx. 45 minutes)
