Opening of the exhibition "Art against abuse"

Ein Foto aus der Ausstellug

On May 7, Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences will open the exhibition "Art against Abuse" by artist Nessi Nezilla in the foyer of its main building. At the beginning of the event, Manuel Hagel, Chairman of the CDU Baden-Württemberg and the CDU state parliamentary group, and Andreas Stenger, President of the Baden-Württemberg State Office of Criminal Investigation, will talk about the current socio-political and police situation in Baden-Württemberg.

The photo exhibition was conceived by Nessi Nezilla and photographed by Felicitas Yang and Armando Milano. The connection to RWU came about through Professor Dr. Julia Wege. Other cooperation partners are Fraunhofer IPA, the Childhood Foundation and the Baden-Württemberg State Office of Criminal Investigation.

The exhibition aims to draw attention to the issue of sexual abuse. "It is alarming that, according to estimates, one in seven to one in eight adults in Germany has been affected by child sexual abuse," says Julia Wege. "The number of reported cases is rising steadily, particularly in relation to the depiction of child and youth pornography." The number of such depictions on the internet doubled between 2020 and 2022. In view of the fact that not all cases are recorded, a high number of unreported cases can be assumed.

By combining art, science, teaching and research, RWU aims to make an active contribution to raising awareness and education. The exhibition can be seen in the main building of RWU (Doggenriedstraße 70 in Weingarten) until June 4 and will then be presented at various locations throughout Germany. A scientific publication on the exhibition will be published by Nünnerich-Asmus Verlag in the fall.
