"Good Climate 2030" - this is the motto under which the new climate protection managers at RWU, Carolin-Anna Achberger and Annabel Göhler, will be responsible for the path to a climate-neutral university. "Our task as part of the creation of an integrated climate protection concept is to support the university in achieving the goal of climate neutrality set by the state government by 2030," explains Carolin-Anna Achberger.

To achieve this goal, the two are focusing on participation: They want to use various formats to involve staff, students and professors from different departments and anchor the topic of climate protection throughout the university. "This is the only way we can create a good basis for sustainable climate protection measures," emphasizes Annabel Göhler. The focus is on all relevant areas of the university - from operations and campus services to building management, mobility, teaching and research. Climate protection management offers potential for students in particular to participate in parts of the concept development and the implementation of projects, thereby gaining relevant practical experience. The climate protection measures should not be viewed in isolation, but rather create a good teaching, learning and working environment at RWU in a holistic approach - in line with the motto "Good Climate 2030" for everyone.

Annabel Göhler has experience in environmental education, team development and supporting change processes in teams and started as Climate Protection Manager at RWU in March 2025. Her aim is to win over as many different people and stakeholders at RWU as possible to the topic of climate protection and to develop sustainable goals and solutions together.

Carolin-Anna Achberger also took up her position as Climate Protection Manager in April 2025. Previously, she advised financial institutions and pension funds across Germany on the development of sustainability strategies. She also taught sustainability at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and is now looking forward to combining the two worlds at RWU.
