Information about starting your studies

Welcome to RWU!

The start of studies marks the beginning of a new, exciting phase in your life. The first few days are exciting and full of new experiences and impressions, but also full of question marks. What will happen now? What will the first days of study bring? When will what be explained and who can I turn to?

To help you find your way around RWU quickly and start your first semester well prepared, we offer a central introductory event for all first- semester students before the start of lectures. Here you will be officially welcomed, get to know important contact persons and receive valuable information about the course of studies. In addition, there are compulsory events for your degree program, guided tours of central facilities such as the Didactics Center and insights into our university groups and initiatives where you can network.

The detailed program for the central introductory event for all first- semester students will be updated before the start of the semester and published in the second tab of this page.

We look forward to welcoming you to RWU in person soon and wish you a successful start to your studies!

FAQ Start of studies

In addition to the dates in the website calendar, you will find the key dates for each semester in the semester schedule:

The timetable for each degree course shows exactly when the theoretical and practical phases of the course take place.

You will receive a timetable for each semester in good time before the start of lectures via the LSF.

You can access the timetable as follows
Courses -> Course schedules -> select the course -> enter a value for from and to semester (for example 1 to 1 for the first semester) -> you will now receive a weekly view and can view the schedule for each week

Courses start at 8:00 a.m. at the earliest and end at 7:15 p.m. at the latest. However, there may be days in the timetable when there are no courses. These are intended for self-study.

Your SPO (Study and Examination Regulations) describe the procedure and regulations of your degree program. You should definitely have read them. You can find the relevant SPO in the LSF under "My SPO" or on the website under Student Services in the section Student Examination Office.

Yes, the university didactics department offers a preliminary math course to prepare you for your studies. This course always starts before the lectures and helps you to get started with the mathematics lectures of the first semester. We also offer the elective module "Study Start", which serves to provide orientation and improve your study skills.

You can find more information about our preliminary courses and support services on our website Pre-courses.

You can find the most important points of contact for financial support on our website under the menu item Financing and protection.

With your access data you can log in to our QM portal and download our current university guide. You can find it via the search function there or via the following link to the university guide. In the university guide you will find all important contacts and contact persons at RWU.

Compulsory events and presentation of institutions and initiatives

Wednesday, October 8th

On Wednesday, October 8th , the Day of Initiatives and Institutions will take place. On this day, from 10:30 a. m. to 01:00 p.m., student initiatives and institutions at RWU, such as the Central Student Advisory Office, the Formula Student Team or the Studierendenwerk Seezeit, will present themselves in the foyer of the main building.
