The "CAD and FEM" (Computer Aided Design and Finite Element Method) laboratory at RWU Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences was completely re-equipped for the 2025/2026 winter semester. Laboratory head Professor Dr. Ralf Stetter is delighted: "Thanks to the new equipment, we can guarantee high-quality teaching for modern mechanical engineering. Digital product development is an indispensable component of a competitive industry."
High-performance equipment
Thanks to the procurement via nationwide programs, high-quality computers with powerful graphics cards could be procured at relatively low cost, which also enable demanding modeling and simulation tasks to be performed. Thomas Glogowski, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, emphasizes: "We are currently making our faculty fit for the challenges of the coming decades through targeted investments in vehicle technology, digital product development and 3D metal printing. In our well-designed laboratories, students can get to know state-of-the-art technologies and use them for great projects - such as the Formula Student Team Weigarten." The "CAD and FEM" laboratory is also used to train students for the international bachelor's degree course in mechatronics, which started in the summer.
