Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Degrees and awards

At the end of November, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science bid farewell to its graduates. A total of 119 of them completed their studies at RWU in the past semester, most of them in the Applied Computer Science course, closely followed by Internet and Online Marketing. Among the Master's courses, the English-language Mechatronics course had the most graduates.

"Keep looking beyond the obvious"

On behalf of the university management, Professor Dr. Michael Pfeffer welcomed the former students and their families: "You began your studies during the coronavirus period," said the Vice-Rector for Research, International Affairs and Transfer. "That's when you experienced the power of commitment. Now that you are entering the next phase of your life, you see commitment not as an obligation, but as an opportunity to stand up for what is important to you. It's the committed people who create stability."

In his welcoming address, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science also focused on the new phase of life that is beginning. "Don't let routine become a disguise for curiosity. Keep your sense of wonder and look beyond the obvious," said Professor Dr. Bela Mutschler to the young people in the auditorium.

In addition to the certificates, prizes are also traditionally awarded at the graduation ceremonies. For example, the doubleSlash Award went to Niklas Kleiser for his outstanding performance in the Applied Computer Science course.

"We support women on their way to positions of responsibility"

Managing Director Heike Ewert presented the Enerquinn Award to Katharina Komnik, the best student in her year on the Business Informatics course. She had written her final thesis on the topic of "Identification and evaluation of suitable approaches to hybrid project management in software development". "With the Enerquinn Award, we support women in technical degree courses and on their way to positions of responsibility," says Heike Ewert.

The Students' Union Award was presented by Ufuk Sen and went to Harshal Ribadia from the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology degree program. "After the pandemic, Harshal was largely responsible for ensuring that international students were able to arrive here at RWU and in Germany and felt welcome," said Ufuk Sen in his laudatory speech.

Singer Regina Holzhofer from Markdorf provided the musical backdrop to the graduation ceremony.
