Vehicle engineering and development

Fahrzeugtechnik und -entwicklung

The vehicle technology and development field of study focuses on teaching the fundamental skills of vehicle development. In addition to the drive system (electric, hybrid or with combustion engine), the systems chassis, safety systems, body, etc. are comprehensively treated.

Key areas

In addition to the powertrain, the focus is on the vehicle's independent components and the associated development processes.

5th semester:

  • Fundamentals Automotive
  • Internal combustion engines
  • Mechanical drive technology
  • Vehicle design and chassis
  • Automotive Engineering Practicum

6th semester:

  • Alternative drives
  • Mechatronic applications
  • Business administration and quality management
  • Development of automotive systems
  • Project

Electives:

Extensive elective options (5 modules) are available from the 5th to the 7th semester to deepen the knowledge and own interests.

Career & Perspectives

Vehicle manufacturers and suppliers rely on capable engineers when it comes to developing and manufacturing vehicles and their components. The transformation in the powertrain with increasing hybridization and electrification of the powertrain requires creative minds. The industry in southern Germany is characterized by innovative automotive manufacturers and the suppliers of new systems for tomorrow's mobility. Manufacturers of commercial vehicles, special vehicles or agricultural machinery can also count on the skills of automotive engineers.
