Study

Since the winter semester 2019/2020, Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences has been offering students the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree as well as a degree in an IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) apprenticeship within four and a half years.
Currently, however, this is only possible with training as an industrial mechanic. This study option can be chosen by future students of the bachelor study programs "Mechanical Engineering (apprenticeship industrial mechanic)" or "Automotive Engineering (also apprenticeship industrial mechanic)".

The training-integrated bachelor's degree program starts with basic training in the training company. Pure theory semesters at the university in Weingarten then alternate with practical phases in the company. During the phases in the company, students also receive instruction at the Ravensburg Vocational School.

The IHK training examination takes place in the fifth semester. The degree program ends with the bachelor's thesis, which is written at the university or in cooperation with the training company.

Admission

APPLICATION FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER

Applications for mechanical engineering and automotive engineering (integrated training) are usually submitted to the cooperating companies one year before the start of the program. Only then does the application take place at the university.

Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (integrated training) offers

  • 30 places in mechanical engineering in the winter semester
  • 36 study places in automotive engineering in the winter semester

Application deadline at the university: July 15 for the winter semester

The deadlines are cut-off dates, which means that your application documents must be received by this date in order to be considered for the allocation of study places.

WHO RECEIVES A STUDY PLACE?

In the bachelor degree programs

  • Automotive Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

students can opt for the training-integrated study option in the winter semester until October 01. The prerequisite for this is the existence of a corresponding, relevant training contract with a company. The decision for the training-integrated study variant is only possible for the winter semester.

A preliminary internship is not required.

SEMESTER FEE

Each semester , a semester fee is due for all students upon enrollment or re-registration. This fee is charged at a similar rate by all universities in Germany.

Composition and amount of the fee

FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND FOR SECOND DEGREE PROGRAMS

In Baden-Württemberg, there has been a tuition fee for international students (non-EU citizens) and a second-study fee since the winter semester 2017/2018. Thus, in some cases, a tuition fee must be paid in addition to the semester fee.

Prior to enrollment, applicants from non-EU countries or applicants for a second degree will receive a form to assess whether a tuition fee obligation actually exists.
