Weingarten - Climate change demands far-reaching changes - and universities play a key role in this. Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences is meeting this responsibility with a comprehensive energy and climate protection concept. The aim of the concept is to achieve net greenhouse gas neutrality by 2030. RWU relies on continuous monitoring, innovation and participation - from students to teaching staff and university employees. The concept includes a detailed greenhouse gas balance, almost 200 measures and a transparent communication strategy.
The concept combines the topic of climate protection with a holistic approach to improving learning, teaching and working conditions. This in turn creates added value for everyone involved - both within the university and for RWU's external partners.
In her presentation, Carolin-Anna Achberger will show how RWU is shaping its contribution to climate protection, what challenges the educational institution is facing and what opportunities this will create in the long term.
Austrian-born Carolin-Anna Achberger has been one of RWU's two climate protection managers since spring 2025. Prior to this, she worked for seven years as a consultant in the field of sustainable finance, supporting financial institutions and pension funds in the development of sustainability strategies. She also supervised a seminar on sustainability at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich.
