Weingarten - On Monday, March 23, Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences (RWU) signed a cooperation agreement with the Edith-Stein-Schule (ESS). The Edith-Stein-Schule is a vocational high school in Ravensburg and Aulendorf with a total of almost 2,000 students.

Among the various specializations that students can choose from, the school also offers a social science profile - one with a focus on health and one on social issues.

More than a quarter of all students at RWU study at the Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing. Here, young people are trained for the social and health sector and can study Bachelor's degree courses in Social Work, Health Economics, Applied Psychology and Nursing, among others. According to the Dean of Studies for the Bachelor's degree in Health Economics, many of his students are already graduates of the Edith Stein School.

Existing collaboration strengthened through official cooperation

Cooperation between RWU and ESS has existed for several years in the form of recurring offers. One example is the offer for students to practise presenting with VR glasses.

This interface is now to be further expanded and consolidated through the collaboration. The first preliminary talks between RWU and ESS therefore took place in summer 2025. Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Heidi Reichle is convinced that the cooperation will make a valuable contribution to student orientation.

Specific plans for the future include a teacher workshop on the topic of artificial intelligence in schools and a workshop for year 12 pupils, during which they can come to RWU and find out about the university and the courses on offer.

The aim is to enable young people to make informed study decisions

The aim is to give young people more guidance, arouse curiosity about possible career paths and enable them to make informed study decisions. "We are setting an example for the future," said Heidi Reichle at the signing ceremony.

Also present at the signing were Vice-Rector Professor Dr. Sebastian Mauser and the Dean of Studies for Health Economics, Professor Dr. Jan-Marc Hodek. On behalf of the Edith-Stein-Schule, Herbert Weber, Head of School, Brigitte Schürmann, Head of Department for Vocational High Schools, and Silvia Ranzinger, teacher in the Health and Care department, were present.
