Weingarten - The lecture on Wednesday, May 20, will shed light on sea rescue in the Mediterranean from the perspective of a doctor who has been working in various countries, health systems and projects for years. He has also been active on several sea rescue ships since 2024. Tilman Arnold provides insights into the history and the current situation and raises the question of Europe's responsibility and the protection of human rights.

He discusses the procedures on the rescue ships, the political background and the increasing criminalization of rescue organizations. His aim is to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis and encourage a broad discussion about Europe's responsibility.

Tilman Arnold studied human medicine in Göttingen, Kiel and Santander. As an emergency doctor and specialist in family and community medicine (Medicina Familiar y Comunitaria), he has been working internationally in various healthcare systems and projects for many years.
