At their joint meeting on December 15, the University Council and the Senate of Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences elected Henning Rudewig as Chancellor for a further term of office by an overwhelming majority in the first ballot.
This will be Henning Rudewig's third term in office at RWU. He has held the office since 2004, which was initially still designated with the title of Administrative Director and was then transferred to the position of Chancellor.
In his presentation to the two committees, Henning Rudewig began by talking about the changes that have taken place at RWU during his time in office. The number of students has risen from 2,000 to 3,800. 13 degree courses have become 31. There were 69 professors at the beginning, but today there are 103. The university's budget has grown from nine to 28 million euros in 14 years.
"I am proud of this development. And it is also my motivation to help shape this success story for another term of office," says Henning Rudewig. However, the strong growth and current changes are also associated with challenges. He will therefore focus on the upcoming strategy process, the expansion of quality management, the further development of the structural and technical infrastructure and firmly anchoring sustainability at the university as goals for a further term of office.
Dr. Wolfgang Pfeiffer congratulated the old and new chancellors on their election: "You have been able to convince the electoral bodies with both the successes you have already achieved and your ambitious plans for the future. The university is in an excellent condition and ideally equipped for the challenges of the future," said the Deputy Chairman of the University Council.
The Rector also joined in the congratulations: "As full-time members of the Rectorate, we have both worked very well together in recent years and complemented each other well in our various roles. I am therefore delighted that the collaboration can continue in this constellation and that we can tackle the necessary next steps together with the entire university."
Henning Rudewig has been working at RWU since 2004. Previously, he worked for the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry in the state representation in Bonn and Berlin. The duration of his third term as Chancellor of Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences has been set at six years and begins in August 2021.
