At this year's Girls' Day at RWU, almost 100 schoolgirls gained exciting insights into technical and scientific fields of study. 58 participants came from Welfen-Gymnasium Ravensburg, while around 40 others registered individually from all over the region. Students from different types of schools were represented, mainly from grades 7 and 8.
A varied program with a total of ten workshops awaited the participants in the morning. For example, the students were able to learn about current applications of artificial intelligence in the "AI chatbots in school & leisure" workshop, solve technical problems in a playful way in the "Escape Room Measurement Technology Lab" or implement creative 3D printing projects with recycled materials in the "How does the dragon come out of the printer?" offer.
Many workshops were also supported by dedicated students
The program was supplemented by course presentations from areas such as mechanical engineering, applied computer science, business informatics, electrical engineering and information technology. Many workshops were also supported by dedicated female students from RWU. To kick things off, Professor Dr. Therese Breckle and doctoral student Anja Konzept acted as role models and reported on their personal careers in science.
"This is a low-threshold way for schoolgirls to get to know technical degree courses and careers," says Dr Anja Wagner, Equal Opportunities Officer at RWU, who organized Girls' Day again this year. Girls' Day at RWU took place for the third time in cooperation with the Welfen-Gymnasium and parallel to Boys' Day at the University of Education.
