Weingarten - Once again this year, the roll-out of the newly built "Stinger 25E" from the Formula Student Team Weingarten was attended by many guests and former team members. The evening was hosted by the three team leaders Moritz Riedel, Elias Gründig and Tobias Scharton.

For the year 2025, the team once again focused on the lightweight construction of the vehicle and is expected to come in under the 160 kilogram mark for the first time. The members succeeded in reducing the weight so that the entire wheel package, consisting of the wheel hub, the planetary gearbox, the wheel carrier and the brake, disappears completely into the wheel. Smaller and lighter LV batteries, inverters and a weight-reduced cooling system lowered the overall weight. The goal for this year was to make the car more reliable and efficient. To this end, they optimized the pedals, integrated a live telemetry system into the Vehicle Control Unit to be able to check the data while driving and added additional controls in the steering. Cornering has been further optimized thanks to the increased efficiency of the aerodynamics and greater downforce. Another highlight of the season is the 600 V high-voltage battery, which was developed and built in-house.

Team spirit is a top priority at Formula Student Weingarten

Siemens has been a partner of Formula Student Germany since 2015 and is always impressed by the students' performance. "What we experience here is team spirit, enthusiasm, passion and incredible professionalism in the construction of the vehicles," emphasizes Peter Büchele, Science Academics & Transfer Account Manager at Siemens. "What makes me particularly happy," says Faculty Director Professor Dr. Thomas Glogowski, "is the fact that problems are always solved together and across faculties. Formula Student is not just a mechanical engineering team, but an RWU team."

A video presentation showed the activities of the Formula Student team as well as excerpts from races, events and successes of the past season. The greatest successes included, for example, second place in the Formula Student Check for "Acceleration" and fifth place for "Efficiency Overall".

The team's community leaves its mark beyond the student years

After the ceremonial unveiling of the new racing car, the subsequent reception offered team members and guests the opportunity to exchange ideas. Numerous former team members also took the opportunity to attend. "We still have a large network between former and current team members to ensure the transfer of knowledge. It's great to see what new things have been developed that perhaps didn't work in your own season," reports Laura Kriegelstein, former RWU student and team member for the 2023/2024 season.
