Weingarten - Around 320 students are starting their summer semester at RWU. The introductory event at the Weingarten Culture and Congress Center focused on orientation and initial insights into studying.
University management and the city welcome the first semester students
Representatives of the university management and the city welcomed the first semester students and emphasized the importance of a successful start to your studies: "Discover your place of study and Weingarten. Get involved - there is a lot to experience," emphasized Lord Mayor Clemens Moll.
RWU Rector Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele emphasized the opportunities offered by studying and encouraged students to take advantage of the university's wide range of offers, including stays abroad and language courses. He was particularly pleased with the university's internationality: with 74 partner universities worldwide and almost 100 international students starting in the summer semester, RWU offers numerous opportunities for intercultural exchange.
Introduction of the Rectorate and presentation of the faculties
Leni Ziegler, a 4th semester business psychology student, presented the Rectorate. She moderated the discussion with specific questions that gave the new students important insights into the university and the tasks of the Vice-Rectors. The deans then provided insights into the special features and focal points of the faculties.
Support and offers at a glance
Another part of the program was dedicated to the university's support and services. Dean Professor Dr. Anja Klimsa set an important signal for visibility with her information presentation on help with sexual violence and offered the new students a concrete point of contact and support.
In addition, the first-year students were given an overview of central institutions and opportunities to get involved in everyday student life: the student body introduced itself and some university groups and encouraged students to actively participate. The student councils then presented themselves as central points of contact and interest groups.
The event concluded with a guided tour organized by the student councils. The new students got to know the city of Weingarten and the RWU campus better.
