A Successful Season with a Very International Team
The Formula Student team at RWU Ravensburg-Weingarten University is becoming increasingly international. The 2025–2026 season marks a preliminary high point: At the “Formula Student Spain” event in Barcelona, the racing team from Weingarten competed with 33 students from seven countries and three different continents.
Team leader Leon Buchmüller reports: “In all my time on the team, I’ve never traveled to an event with such a large and diverse group of people. I consider this development a victory for myself and the team.” Katrin Ronneburger, director of the RWU International Office, emphasizes: “For me, it’s a wonderful development that the international student body isn’t just visible in the courses, but is also reflected in the university’s exciting activities, such as the Formula Student team. To me, that demonstrates successful integration.”
“Our first podium finish in autocross since we started building electric vehicles”
Throughout the season, the FSTW achieved great success: At the event in France, the team took first place in the “Acceleration” competition, second place in the “Autocross” competition, and sixth place in the overall standings. “Our first podium finish in autocross since we started building electric vehicles,” says Konrad Brugger, deputy team leader for Electric Powertrain, happily. In Spain, the student team from Weingarten took third place in the “Acceleration” competition and fifth place in the “Skid Pad” competition.
Professor Dr. Ralf Stetter—the team’s academic advisor from the very beginning—is thrilled: “We have a great international team working on the university’s largest project, and they’ve handled a challenging season superbly.” And already, the team is looking ahead again: “After the season is before the season. Right now, the team is in the recruitment phase and is looking forward to welcoming many new students.”
