As part of this year's International Day, two awards were presented to international students who have distinguished themselves through their intercultural commitment, among other things.
The DAAD Prize
The DAAD prize went to Aniket Singh. The Indian-born student began his studies at RWU in 2020 and is now in the 3rd semester of his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Embedded Systems.
The award is in recognition of his outstanding academic performance and his social commitment in Weingarten. Aniket Singh financed his studies himself and endured the effects of the coronavirus crisis from 2020. He has been a member of the Council of Indian Students, or CIS for short, since 2021. Here, the student helps organize numerous events and takes care of the association's social media presence. But the student has also volunteered in various functions at RWU outside of CIS. For his achievements to date, he is now receiving prize money of 1000 euros, sponsored by the DAAD.
The International Student Award
The International Student Award honors students who have made a special effort to raise awareness of foreign cultures and to work together. This contributes to a welcoming culture at RWU.
This year, the internal university award went to Marwan Haji Hamoud. The Syrian is currently studying E-Mobility and Green Energy for his Bachelor's degree. He has repeatedly co-trained the CLIC's "Intercultural Sensitization" seminar, which is offered every semester by international students for students in order to promote the perception of cultural differences. In addition to this, he was also active as a student buddy. In this way, the student has made a considerable contribution to improving the exchange between German and non-German students. For his commitment, the student is now receiving prize money of 500 euros, donated by the Friends of Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences.
