In preparation for the annual Study Information Day and the accompanying visit to regional universities, RWU, in collaboration with the Federal Employment Agency, organized an introductory event for students at the Edith Stein School on October 21 to help them explore career and study options. Twelfth-grade students had the opportunity to gain an overview of degree programs and vocational training; to align with the curriculum of vocational high schools, RWU presented several degree programs in the fields of health and social sciences, along with the associated career prospects. Whether Applied Psychology, Social Work, or Physician Assistance—various presentations on degree programs were offered, along with practical research modules from the Federal Employment Agency to help students explore potential career paths. “The event was very well received by the students,” says Heike Krumm, the contact person for school relations at RWU. “The fact that RWU came to their school helped many of them overcome their initial hesitation, compared to having to take the first step of seeking information on their own at a university.”

The students were also able to discover degree programs they hadn’t even heard of before, such as Health Economics. A special insight was provided during the presentation of the Business Psychology program; students were able to hear directly from current university students about their experiences studying at RWU and the exciting projects—such as app development—they undertake during the semester. The positive feedback from the students is a clear testament to the event’s success.

This year’s Study Information Day at RWU will take place on November 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
