As part of the Welcome Week for international students, the CLIC - Center for Languages and Intercultural Communication also supported the start of studies with a wide range of activities.

CLIC supports the kick-off to the start of studies

At the start of the week, international students were supported in joining German courses. First-year students with no knowledge of German received support with course registration, while participants with previous knowledge took the online placement test OnSET. "The OnSET guarantees precise placement according to the CEFR, a factor that optimizes students' learning success and creates fair learning conditions," explains CLIC employee Carolin Reuter.

The CLIC then offered a varied program: In addition to clarifying organizational and practical issues, such as the selection of suitable textbooks, the focus was primarily on the active use of the German language. Existing language skills could be refreshed and expanded through playful formats and interactive station work. At the same time, there was an opportunity for networking between internationals who have been studying at RWU for some time and the new students. A special highlight was the escape games, which combined regional studies and language fun and were played in all groups.

Intercultural learning

Around 70 students also took part in the "Intercultural Sensitization" seminar, which aims to raise awareness of cultural differences and promote integration into everyday university life. The diversity of the countries of origin represented enabled an intensive exchange on cultural and communicative peculiarities.
