Marc Stocker first earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from RWU Ravensburg-Weingarten University. He then enrolled in the master’s program in Digital Business & Marketing Intelligence. Today, as an IT management consultant at Karer Consulting AG in Berg, he helps his clients improve their digital business processes.

The handshake between Marc Stocker and Jürgen Friedl at the “Back on Campus” reunion is both businesslike and friendly. “Marc Stocker is the prime example of someone who switched careers from industrial engineering and has found his place perfectly in our Digital Business department,” says Jürgen Friedl, describing his former master’s student. Stocker had already decided to pursue a career in IT consulting during the internship semester of his bachelor’s program, thereby laying the foundation for his career path early on.

People and AI

An IT management consultant specializing in digital business helps companies strategically deploy digital technologies, IT systems, and digital business models to improve processes, reduce costs, and tap into new business opportunities. “Of course, we use AI in a wide variety of areas in our daily work—in research, analysis, or presentations—but the human element remains crucial: someone who thinks critically and takes responsibility for the results,” explains Marc Stocker.

Tools and technologies are constantly changing. Accordingly, the master’s program in Digital Business & Marketing Intelligence focuses less on learning specific programming languages or software and more on understanding how things work and being able to respond flexibly and professionally to technical innovations. “This way, we better prepare our graduates for the ever-changing job market,” explains program director Jürgen Friedl.

Many Career Options with Digital Business

“The great thing is that with a degree in Digital Business, there’s not just one possible path,” confirms Marc Stocker. “The skill set you gain in this program is so broad that you can choose from numerous fields of work across many industries.”
