The CLIC language courses are currently in the peak phase of the summer semester - the ideal time to take the lessons outside and experience German culture first-hand. Lecturer Julia Ongherth took advantage of this and took her C1.1 seminar on an excursion to the Ravensburg Concert Hall.

The program included the theater performance (R)Evolution, based on the work 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari. The play creates a darkly satirical future scenario: in the year 2045, life is determined by algorithms, an omniscient artificial intelligence monitors everyday life and individual self-determination is increasingly pushed into the background.

The production not only gave the students food for thought about the digital future, but also offered them a valuable opportunity to put their advanced German language skills into practice. Discussing what they had seen showed impressively how differentiated and confident the participants at level C1.1 can already express themselves.

The excursion made it clear that language is not only learned in seminar rooms - but especially intensively through cultural experience.
