For the first time, more than just one country was presented at the end of the country evenings of the International Offices of Weingarten University of Applied Sciences and RWU: On Monday evening, international RWU and PH students and staff from four countries presented their Christmas traditions at the Alibi in Weingarten. Among the more than 60 guests were international as well as German students, professors and staff.
The event kicked off with students from the PH. In their presentation, they showed their traditional dishes and unusual fireworks that transform the cities into a sea of lights during the festive season. The second country was presented by a student from RWU. She introduced the guests to Vietnamese traditions, such as glittering parades and elaborately decorated churches that attract travelers to the cities. During a short break, typical German Christmas treats such as gingerbread and Christmas stollen were offered. Two students from Spain talked about church-based and more recent traditions in their home country. They sang "Feliz Navidad" together with the guests. Finally, Ramona Herrmann from the RWU International Office and Nathalie Steffen from the PH presented German traditions. They asked the students to guess which traditions are typical for Upper Swabia and which are not and gave tips for the Christmas season in Germany.
At the end, the students were allowed to play a dice game in small groups with scrap gifts. At the end, everyone was allowed to take a present home with them.
