Understanding AI, Shaping Democracy
What impact do AI and digital technologies have on our society? How can we use them responsibly to strengthen our democracy? What opportunities do these new technologies offer, and what are their limitations? We’ll explore these questions together at “Code for Democracy” as part of the “Long Night of Democracy.”
At the “Code for Democracy” KICKATHON, you’ll work with others to develop creative digital solutions for current societal challenges. With the help of modern AI tools, your team will create initial digital prototypes—such as AI chatbots or other digital applications— without needing any programming knowledge. The focus is on your creativity, collaborative experimentation, and the development of innovative ideas. Discover what AI can do, work as a team, and design digital solutions for a strong democracy!
Participation is free for teens ages 14 and up and young adults.
No prior technical knowledge is required.
Procedure
| 2:30 – 2:45 pm | Welcome remarks by Mr. Hüttinger |
| 2:45 – 3:00 pm | Keynote presentation on “AI & Democracy” |
| 3:00 – 6:00 pm | Technical introduction to Mistral, Kowerk.ai, and, if applicable, Typebot for advanced users. This will be followed by the “Code for Democracy” KICKATHON. A flexible break with sandwiches, snacks, and drinks will provide a chance to recharge before continuing work on ideas and prototypes. |
| 6:00 – 6:30 pm | Short 3-minute pitches to present the results, followed by an awards ceremony. |
| Starting at 6:30 pm | Closing celebration with pizza for all participants |
In parallel with the KICKATHON, the State Agency for Political Education will have an activity booth offering hands-on activities, publications, and giveaways. Visitors can engage with questions about democracy and the formation of opinions in a playful way and learn about current political issues.
