The online lecture sheds light on sea rescue in the Mediterranean from the perspective of a doctor who has been working in various countries, health systems and projects for years and has been active on several sea rescue ships since 2024. He provides insights into the history and current situation of sea rescue in the Mediterranean and raises the question of Europe's responsibility and the protection of human rights.
The lecture addresses the procedures on the rescue ships, the political background and the increasing criminalization of rescue organizations. The aim is to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis and encourage a broad discussion about Europe's responsibility.
