Why Business Informatics?
We all see it: each of us expects ever more individual and smarter products and services in ever shorter time - and at low cost. In a globalised world, companies have to hold their own against the ever-increasing competitive pressure, also internationally. This is often achieved by using the most important building block of digitalisation: information technology (IT).
This can make processes more efficient. Likewise, completely new business models become possible: e.g. shopping portals, mobile and voice-based services from the cloud and much more. In this way, the appropriate IT is designed from a business problem. And then, of course, successfully implemented. This is how companies will ultimately be successful. Studying business informatics therefore means learning how the worlds of business administration and computer science can interact optimally. The subject of business informatics is IT in business, public administration and other institutions.

Contents of the course
Our business informatics degree programme in Weingarten offers a balanced mix of classical business administration and computer science. With a focus on business informatics topics. At the same time, there is a special focus on practical orientation. The curriculum provides the entire fifth semester for this. The final project work and the Bachelor's thesis are usually written in cooperation with companies or organisations in the region. By choosing electives and compulsory electives, students can determine their own individual profile as a business informatics specialist.
By the way: Building on the Bachelor's programme, we offer a consecutive Master's programme in Business Information Systems. It is recognised as a general entry requirement for a civil service career in the higher civil service - and also offers the possibility of a subsequent doctorate.

Career prospects
Business informatics specialists deal with the planning, development and use of IT for a wide variety of organisations. Accordingly, graduates work in all areas: in industry, trade, services, education, health and administration. Whether management, organisation, sales and marketing, development, consulting and training - business informatics specialists can be found in a wide variety of functions. Or in a nutshell: You have free choice!
Digitalisation produces new technologies at ever shorter intervals. In order to use these successfully for organisations, corresponding business models, business processes and, of course, the appropriate IT must be designed and implemented. Or in a nutshell: Business informatics specialists are needed in large numbers today and in the foreseeable future!
