The Center for Sustainability and Resilience (ZNR) held its 2026 general meeting. Professor Dr. Markus Pfeil and Professor Dr. Thomas Schreier-Alt led the proceedings and, together with the members, looked back on the activities and achievements of the past year. Another key item on the agenda was the unanimous reelection of the Executive Board.

The general meeting also provided an opportunity to look back on a successful year. The ZNR played a key role in supporting climate protection managers Annabel Göhler and Carolin-Anna Achberger in the successful development and submission of RWU’s Integrated Climate Protection Concept.

Another focus was the further development of the so-called “Malereck” into a center for sustainability and resilience. The project was advanced in collaboration with the state’s climate protection manager, Susanne Helle. The project is now in the zoning plan process and is being further supported by the City of Weingarten and the Office of Property and Construction.

Although the application submitted by the ZNR to establish “Zukunftsräume” (spaces for the future) was not approved by the project sponsor, the joint application nevertheless further strengthened the collaboration between RWU, PH Weingarten, the City of Weingarten, and the association “Wir und Jetzt, ” and laid the foundation for future joint projects.
