International cooperation and intercultural exchange are integral parts of Ravensburg-Weingarten University's profile. At the end of April, RWU welcomed two school groups interested in studying: 20 young people from the Anka Bilim School in Ankara and a 40-strong delegation from the Takev School in Izmir visited the campus to get a taste of university life. They were welcomed by Angela Tanner and Birgit Demuth from RWU's International Office, who introduced the guests to the wide range of Bachelor's and Master's degree programs on offer.
Authentic insights: meet & greet with students
A highlight of the visit program was the "Meet & Greet" with Turkish students who are already enrolled at RWU. In a relaxed round of questions, the guests were able to find out first-hand what it's like to live and study in Weingarten. "The direct exchange at eye level often removes the biggest hurdles. The students ask very practical questions about everyday life, finding accommodation or exams," says Angela Tanner.
During a subsequent guided campus tour, the groups explored the university's various facilities. The visitors were particularly impressed by the informal atmosphere on campus and the short distances. Many of the young people already had specific study aspirations - their interest ranged from engineering to business and social studies.
Studying in Germany as a career springboard
After the tour, the university invited the students to lunch together in the canteen, where they were able to deepen their discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. "We have been working closely with schools abroad for many years. These regular visits are a great enrichment for both sides," summarizes the International Office. Interest in studying in Germany remains high, particularly due to the excellent career opportunities in the economically strong region of Upper Swabia.
