Professor Dr. Jürgen Friedl is celebrating his 25th anniversary in public service this year. Rector Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele and Chancellor Henning Rudewig presented him with a certificate of thanks from the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Born in Augsburg, he completed his doctorate at the university in his home town and then worked in management consulting for several years before moving to RWU in the fall of 2007. Shortly afterwards, he was appointed Dean of Business Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and contributed to the establishment and further development of the course at RWU. Today, he is Vice Dean of the Faculty, heads the Master's degree course in Digital Business & Marketing Intelligence and is thus involved in the continuous adaptation of the course to the requirements of an increasingly digital economy.
"Our common goal is to present the certificate at the graduation ceremony"
To this day, Jürgen Friedl teaches the introduction to business informatics in order to get to know students right from the start. He gives them a clear perspective early on: "Our common goal is to hand over the certificate at the graduation ceremony". Accompanying young people from the start of their studies to successful graduation has shaped his work for many years, as has his commitment to the strategic development of the Digital Business department.
Especially in view of the rapid changes brought about by artificial intelligence and digital technologies, it is important to remain open to new ideas. Even if it is sometimes challenging to keep up with the rapid pace of change, it is precisely this dynamism that makes teaching so appealing for Jürgen Friedl.
