On Tuesday evening, around 100 international students came together at the Alibi in Weingarten. Ramona Herrmann, the coordinator for international students at RWU, and the coordinators for incoming students Barbara Wildenhain and Nathalie Steffan from Weingarten University of Applied Sciences welcomed the students.

The new internationals at RWU came from countries including India, Nepal, Turkey, the USA, Canada, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt and Tunisia. Many students were accompanied by their buddies - dedicated students who support the new arrivals with questions about studying and everyday life in Germany. The buddies are both German and international students from higher semesters, for example from Spain, Cameroon, Indonesia or Vietnam. PH Weingarten exchange students from Chile, Namibia, Italy and Brazil also took part in the evening and contributed to the lively atmosphere.

As a small welcome gift, the universities invited their guests to enjoy a free drink. This was accompanied by buttered pretzels and sandwiches - perfect for a relaxed evening.

The aim of the event was to give the international students the opportunity to get to know each other, make contacts and also exchange ideas with German students from different semesters. An important focus is also on networking between the two universities.

For many years, the International Welcome has been the kick-off event for the International Stammtisch, which takes place once a month at Alibi during each semester. Each time, the focus is on a different country: students present their home country with music, dance and culinary samples.
