For new international students, the International Office organises a Welcome and Orientation Programme lasting several days. This programme helps students not only to fight their way through the bureaucracy, but also to become familiar with the city and the region.
As part of this programme, all important formalities such as enrolment, registering at the local registration office, opening a bank account and taking out a health insurance policy are completed together. In addition, visits and excursions take place, during which the students can get to know their new environment, but also university staff and each other.
Experience has shown that the Welcome and Orientation Programme contributes significantly to a smooth start at our university. Participation by foreign students is therefore strongly recommended. Unfortunately, foreign students who arrive at the university later cannot be supported in the same way.
The Welcome and Orientation Programme for the winter semester takes place three weeks before lectures begin. Normally, this is the second week of September. The remaining two weeks of September are reserved for the German Intensive Course reserved.
The Welcome and Orientation Programme for the summer semester takes place in the first week of March. The remaining days before the start of the semester are reserved for the German Intensive Course reserved.
Programmes of the last and the next Welcome Week can be found in the download area below. There you will also find our Welcome Brochure, which contains detailed information about studying and living in Weingarten. The brochure is updated before the beginning of each semester. New international students receive a printed version upon arrival.
