You're currently finishing school and are interested in studying in an english-speaking Bachelor's degree in a STEM field? But you don't feel well enough prepared for it yet or even have a semester to bridge before you start your studies? Then TAKEoff@RWU is just the fit for you!
- You can study in English for one semester at RWU without having to pay tuition fees.
- Your chances of academic success will improve significantly! TAKEoff@RWU teaches you not only academic and subject-specific skills, but also language and cultural skills. This way, you will be perfectly prepared for living, studying and working in Germany.

Your Benefits at a glance
- You start with German at your level in our CLIC language center.
- In an intercultural course, you will learn everything about Scientific Writing, Studying and Living in Germany.
- Math, Physics and Programming courses refresh your knowledge for a Bachelor's degree at RWU.
- You will get to know local companies and future career fields in various industry networking formats. This will give you a first in-depth insight into the topic of working in Germany. Our industry partners are among others RAFI and ifm.*1
- With prior arrangement, you can take part in specially selected courses in our English Bachelor's degree programs worth up to 10 ECTS and sit an exam. If you fail the exam, this will not affect your future studies.
- And you do not pay tuition fees*2.
... and if you apply for and enrol in an English Bachelor's degree program at RWU after TAKEoff@RWU...
- ... you can apply to have these 10 ECTS recognized upon successful examination*3 This will reduce your workload during your studies.
- ... you will receive a bonus of 0.5 on your overall grade in our selection system if you apply for one of our English Bachelor's degree programs after successfully completing TAKEoff@RWU *4

*2 Only the usual administrative fees apply and a small food fee during the onboarding week.

Elective modules TAKEoff@RWU*
TAKEoff@RWU offers elective modules from various Bachelor's degree programs. Crediting of 10 ECTS points is possible.
*The selection is made after consultation with the head of the preparatory course. Exclusion from participation in these subject-specific courses is possible due to admission restrictions. Overlaps with compulsory modules cannot be ruled out. Participation in the selected elective modules is not guaranteed.

Studieneignungsprüfung/Certificate of Aptitude for Studying in Germany: | A university entrance qualification/school-leaving certificate that qualifies for direct access to a university in your home country, but is not compliant to ANABIN and therefore not recognized in Germany, requires – in addition to your Higher Education Entrance Qualification (12 years of schooling) - the presentation/submission of a certificate of aptitude for studying in Germany (Studieneignungsprüfung) such as: TestAS digital (Core Module + Subject Module Engineering) - A total score of min. 100 TestAS paper-based (Core Module + Subject Module Engineering) - A total score of min. 180 ITB Technology (Extended Version 180 min) - A total score of min. 90 SAT (Full version including essay) - A total score of min. 1100 ACT - (Full version including writing) Composite Score min. 22 If your aptitude test meets the requirements, you will get an invitation for a 30-min online oral test in English focusing on cultural, social and economic topics and conducted by RWU. For the oral part of the university-specific entrance examination, the examinees are required to have good understanding of German culture, German society, German economy and German politics. Important
Our advice for you:
- If you would like to start a Bachelor's degree program at RWU, you must submit a complete application by the deadline. Participation in TAKEoff@RWU does not guarantee a place at RWU and you have not automatically applied for a degree program.
- Nevertheless, you will receive a bonus of 0.5 grade points on your overall grade in our selection system if you successfully complete TAKEoff@RWU and if you apply for an english speaking Bachelor's degree programm at RWU. Please note the ranking process for an application to RWU! If this is not sufficient despite the improvement of 0.5 grade points, you will unfortunately not be able to study with us. See also § 8 "Aktuelle Zulassungs- und Auswahlsatzung der RWU für Bachelorstudiengänge".
- TAKEoff@RWU at RWU is in 2025 not valid as a preparatory college (Studienkolleg). After successfully completing TAKEoff@RWU, you do not acquire a university entrance qualification for RWU or any other university. Changes in law and in this process will be coming in 25/26.
