Seal of quality for cross-university mentoring program

The cross-university mentoring program HAWKarriere was certified by the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Society for Mentoring (DGM) without any conditions. The award confirms the conceptual quality and effectiveness of the program as a strategic instrument for promoting young talent.

The example of Professor Stephan Kleber, who has been participating as a mentee since the beginning of the winter semester, shows how mentoring can work in practice. His mentor is Professor Dr. Christoph Reich from Furtwangen University.

HAWKarriere is aimed at both young academics and newly appointed professors,

"As a newly appointed professor, I have identified issues where an experienced mentor seems particularly valuable to me," says Kleber. "I would like to use the mentoring to build a well-positioned research program." The first meeting already provided impetus for teaching and research planning.

The HAWKarriere program is aimed at both young academics who are aiming for a HAW professorship and newly appointed professors who want to network and exchange ideas across universities.

Close integration of individual career development and university didactic qualification

The certification process particularly emphasized the high conceptual quality, the transparent matching process, the integration of peer mentoring and the close integration of individual career support and university teaching qualifications.

Lisann Kaiser, project manager of rwu-prof as part of the "FH Personal" funding program, emphasizes the importance of the quality seal: "The certification helps us to make quality standards visible and to strengthen the sustainability of the program. It is an important confirmation of our joint work across universities."

Systematically supporting academic career development

The program is supported by nine universities in Baden-Württemberg and is currently in its third round. Three places are available per university and the mentees are each supported for a year. In addition to tandem meetings with experienced mentors, peer exchange plays a central role. Joint kick-off and networking meetings support the development of individual mentoring goals and promote cross-university dialog.

With the DGM certification, HAWKarriere underlines its claim to systematically support academic career development and sustainably strengthen networking within the HAW landscape.
