Weingarten - On Wednesday, January 21, Ulrich Becker, principal of the Humpis School, and Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele, rector of the university, signed the agreement between the two educational institutions. The signing was preceded by various discussions between teachers from the Humpis School and Heike Krumm, the contact person for school contacts at RWU.

Exchange about workshops and international perspectives

During the meeting, representatives from both institutions discussed possible cooperation projects. In addition to pupils, the focus was also on teachers for workshops. Veronika Weber-Schopp from the Didactics Center at RWU suggested workshops in which teachers could apply artificial intelligence in practice and try out new forms of teaching. "Offers of this kind would benefit both teachers and students alike. It is important that the use of AI is not avoided, but used specifically in lessons," added Nicole Recknagel, Head of Department at the Business High School.

There was also a lively exchange about the international programs of the two institutions. It became clear that both pupils and students show great interest in the programs and that the educational institutions actively promote this commitment. "The cooperation brings both sides together: There are numerous parallels, but new impulses also arise from which we can mutually benefit," Ulrich Becker summed up at the end of the meeting.

Study orientation at the RWU

Pupils from two computer science classes at the Wirtschaftsgymnasium visited the university last summer. They went on an exploratory tour of the Lab4DTE - the innovation laboratory at RWU. The educational institutions would like to follow on from this event and offer further IT workshops for young people. There are already concrete plans for study orientation. As part of the cooperation, a workshop is planned for the 12th grade of the Wirtschaftsgymnasium in July. Pupils will be given the opportunity to gain practical experience of the university's specialist areas. It will also give them the chance to get to know RWU better as a potential place to study.
