Our "Physical Engineering" programme is characterised by a broad, interdisciplinary scientific and technical education and a combination of research, technical development and industrial application. We implement ideas, develop prototypes and equipment for industry and science - we are developers and Inventors.

Prospects

The career prospects of our graduates are excellent. They work in various positions in development departments and research institutes. They are employed, e.g. in mechanical and plant engineering, in the optics industry, with automotive suppliers, in the aerospace industry, in software companies, in medical technology, environmental protection and in the development of renewable energies.

After the successful completion of the studies, the title Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is awarded, which also gives the opportunity to acquire a Master‘s degree or even a doctorate.

Introductory Studies

»Physical Engineering« starts with the basics – with an introductory study period which takes three semesters.

It serves to impart basic knowledge and fills any knowledge gaps that may exist. We generally recommend participation in the mathematics pre-course. Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to enhance your German language skills in a special course related training offer. A basic level of German (A1) is required and indispensable in the beginning. A B2 level has to be reached during the introductory studies.
 

Advanced Studies

After that, things will be different: you will join native German students for the advanced courses, being held in German. Lectures will be replaced more and more by laboratory and practical STUDY PROGRAM & CURRICULUM CONTENT training. Contents will change from theoretical background to applications and technology.
Lectures and seminars in small groups ensure intensive support, focusing on project-oriented knowledge acquisition. The students get practical experience in laboratory tutorials, in an obligatory internship in the industry and an application-oriented final thesis. Due to the close contact to the global companies in Bodensee-Oberschwaben, our students are perfectly prepared to enter their professional lives.

Internship

In your sixth semester, there will be an obligatory internship. This can either be done at a company or in a research institute.

Bachelor Thesis

Your study will end with a Bachelor Thesis. Most of the students are doing it outside of the university.

 

 

Admission

Admission Requirements

The Bachelor's program in Physical Engineering is designed as a bilingual full-time study course with a duration of 7 semesters, always starting in the summer semester (beginning of March). The course language is English (semesters 1-3) and later German (semesters 4-7). Compulsory German language courses prepare the students for the lectures in German and are free of extra charge. This course is dedicated to EU and non-EU citizens as well as to German students. In order to qualify for our bilingual Bachelor's Program, you have to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Higher Education Entrance Qualification or equivalent
  • Proven English skills: TOEFL (internet based exam of at least 70 out of 120), IELTS (with a minimum score of 6.0) or Cambridge (CPE/CAE)

! Please note, that admission requirements are currently under review and that there might be some changes.

Application for the summer intake 2021 will possible from September 01 - November 15, 2020.

The deadlines are cut-off periods. Please note, that your application can only be considered, if the original application documents are received in due time at the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences.

  2. Certified Copies of your Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Certificate, plus a certified translation into English or German
  3. English Language Certificate (TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge CPE/ CAE)

  6. If applicable: German Language Certificate (proof of German skills with a minimum of an A1 level)
  7. If applicable: Proof of Vocational Training, Professional Activities, Internships, etc.

Further Program Information

COURSE LANGUAGE

The course language is English (semesters 1-3) and later German (semesters 4-7).
Compulsory German language courses prepare the students for the German lectures and are free of extra charge.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Language proficiency in German is not required to meet the eligibility criteria of this bilingual study program. However applicants submitting a proof of knowledge of minimum level A 1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR are given a little upgrade of 0,2 (German grading system).

Language Proficiency TOEFL or  IELTS
Since course language is English in the first 1,5 years minimum requirement to the certificate of English is

  • for Toefl a score of 70 out of 120
  • for IELTS an overall band score of 6.0

Administration fee

Each semester all students are required to pay an administration fee. It is due upon enrolment or at any re-registration for a following semester.

Fee Amount

Tuition fees for international students or for a second degree

In Baden-Württemberg, international students (non-EU citizens) and students who are taking up a second degree have to pay a tuition fee since the winter semester 2017/2018.  The tuition fee must be paid each semester in addition to the administration fee.

In some cases there are exception from the obligation to pay tuition fees. Before enrolment, applicants from non-EU countries or applicants for a second degree course will receive a form to assess whether the obligation to pay tuition fees actually applies to them or not.

The fees for the first semester have to be paid from abroad before enrolment, but after your visa approval.
