On Thursday, March 23, 2023, the LAB4DTE Digitization Café took place on the topic of "AI in practice: concrete application examples and smart services". The event began with an introduction to the topic of artificial intelligence by Professor Dr. Wolfram Höpken. Afterwards, representatives from KI LAB Bodensee reported on their work. KI LAB Bodensee supports companies in the implementation and use of AI and offers a variety of workshops, training courses and consulting services to help companies introduce AI solutions.

The next topic was "AI in the travel industry - opportunities and challenges". With his presentation, Sven Hafner from Amadeus Airport IT GmbH gave an insight into current AI solutions in the airport environment. He showed how AI is already being used in the tourism industry today, for example in the area of intelligent recommendation systems, the prediction of flight delays or apron monitoring using image recognition techniques. Amadeus is the world's largest so-called Global Distribution System, i.e. booking system for tourism services of all kinds, and IT service provider for the tourism sector with over 16,000 employees. Sven Hafner is Senior Product Manager and responsible for the Airport IT Innovation Lab at Amadeus Airport IT GmbH.

Dominic Regitz, Jona Uekert and Oliver Hagel then presented their joint project "Personalized advertising using AI-based image analysis". The innovative project was implemented in cooperation with Amadeus IT Group SA and deals with a possibility of targeted advertising. Here, customers are assigned to a customer segment based on their clothing and receive optimized advertising for the corresponding segment.

Finally, guided tours through LAB4DTE were offered during which the more than 80 guests were able to view showcases from various areas and gain insights into the different working areas of LAB4DTE. The event ended with a relaxed get-together, where participants continued to exchange ideas about the practice of artificial intelligence and its possible applications.
