"We would like to use this event to promote the professorship at universities of applied sciences. This is already the third event of this kind and the large attendance shows us that there is enormous interest. The job description and requirements are far less well known compared to university professorships," says project manager Dr. Anja Wagner. For example, unlike at university, it is not necessary to have completed a post-doctoral degree to be appointed to a university. Instead, practical work experience is required.
The universities of applied studies also focuse on practical relevance in teaching. The courses of study are characterized by small semesters and thus personal contact with students. Application-oriented research is also part of the field of activity of HAW professors.
Insights into everyday work
During the information event, professors provide insights into their everyday work. Career paths will be outlined and reports will be given on hiring requirements and qualification opportunities.
The event will take place on January 27 in the D Building, Room D002, at RWU. To reach as many interested parties as possible, attendance will be via live stream. Registration to participate in attendance is requested by January 22. Online participation is possible without pre-registration. Addressed are employees from companies, doctoral students as well as students who are interested in teaching at the university.
The event format takes place as part of the "rwu-prof" project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science. The aim of the project is to ensure that universities will continue to have excellently qualified staff in the future.
