Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences (RWU) is hosting an online information event entitled "HAW Professorship as a Career Goal" on February 2, 2024 at 3 p.m. to provide information on how to become a professor at universities of applied sciences.

"We would like to use this event to promote professorships at universities of applied sciences. This is already the fifth event of this kind and the lively attendance shows us that there is great interest. Participants are always particularly interested in the opportunity to ask any questions that arise, for example about the appointment requirements," says project manager Lisann Kaiser. In contrast to university, it is not necessary to have a postdoctoral qualification in order to be offered a position at a university. Instead, practical professional experience is required.

Practical relevance is also the focus of teaching at HAW. The degree courses are characterized by small semesters and therefore personal contact with students. Application-oriented research is also part of the field of activity of HAW professors.

Insights into everyday working life

At the information event, professors will provide insights into their day-to-day work: career paths will be outlined and information will be provided on recruitment requirements and qualification opportunities.

The event on February 2 will be streamed live in order to reach as many interested people as possible. Participation is possible without pre-registration. The event is aimed at employees from companies as well as doctoral candidates and students who are interested in a career at the university.

The event is part of the "rwu-prof" project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science. The aim of the project is to ensure that universities continue to have excellently qualified staff in the future.
