At the beginning of April, 53 students from Takev Gymnasium in Izmir were guests at RWU. The group spent a week traveling through southern Germany and visited six partner universities, primarily in Baden-Württemberg as well as in Bavaria and Hesse.

German as a foreign language is part of the profile of the private school in western Turkey. The students have between eight and ten hours of German per week from the beginning to the 12th grade. With the acquisition of the German Language Diploma II, the courses of study in Germany are also open to them.

"15 of our alumni are currently studying at RWU" reports Nilgün Mandıracı, one of the guides accompanying the Turkish tour group. "And if you ask our students what they want to study, most of them answer: Engineering."

"30 percent go on to study in Germany after graduation"

With this career goal, they are at the right address at RWU and also in the Upper Swabian economic region, emphasizes RWU Professor Dr. Zerrin Harth who herself comes from Turkey and established the cooperation between Takev High School and RWU.

After a welcome by Prorector Professor Dr. Michael Pfeffer and Ramona Herrmann from the International Office, the guests were able to get to know various areas of study at RWU in groups. "We can well imagine making this trip again with our sophomores and juniors in the coming years," says Nilgün Mandıracı. "After all, 30 percent of our 2,500 students go on to study in Germany after graduation."
