The annual Career Days took place at RWU from November 13 to 15. This platform offers companies and institutions the opportunity to make direct contact with RWU students. On the other hand, students can make numerous contacts here in an uncomplicated atmosphere, be it for an internship semester, their final thesis or for starting their career after graduation.

Three days, 140 companies

140 companies were guests at RWU over the three days in 2023. In addition to the foyer of the main building, the adjacent sports hall was fully occupied and temporarily transformed into an exhibition hall. A number of companies have been represented at the RWU Career Days for many years. "We had many good conversations, especially with students who are interested in working for us as a student trainee. We are already looking forward to the applications," says Eva Schrade from Zoller + Fröhlich. "But the contact with the university, with lecturers and employees, is also very exciting for us and a win-win situation for both sides."

Traditionally, the first of the three career days is the Social Day with institutions from the social and healthcare sector. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the focus is then primarily on technology and business, although this year social institutions were also represented at one of the technology days at the trade fair - they also need experts in IT, for example.

Platform for information and networking

The Careers Days at RWU are characterized by the low-threshold exchange between companies and students. This relaxed atmosphere could also be felt in the corridors and at the stands this year. "I think it's great that RWU offers its students such a good platform for information and networking," summarized Sarah Blaser from Erwin Hymer Group SE.

In addition to the trade fair activities at the stands, the Career Days also offer a supporting program. There will be a free, professional application photo shoot. Consultants from the Employment Agency and the RWU Career Center will be offering an application portfolio check. And finally, there is the big Career Days competition. On all three days, three participating companies will donate prizes that will be raffled off at the end of each career day. The prizes include such coveted items as a Samsung tablet or a MacBook.

"The Career Days also bring things full circle for me," said the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Professor Dr. Thomas Glogowski, when welcoming guests to the final awards ceremony. "I walk through the corridors here and I see many of our graduates at the stands. We train young people here who go on to work in companies in the region. And they return to the university to talk to current students about the tasks of today and tomorrow."
