For the eleventh time, TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK honored an outstanding student achievement at RWU. The TOX-Applied-Engineering-Award 2023 went to Paul Hecht for his bachelor thesis entitled "Development of a flow-optimized nozzle body using additive manufacturing methods".

At the beginning of the award ceremony, Dr. Sönke Voss, Managing Director of IHK-Oberschwaben, pointed out that the Upper Swabia region is a regional, national and international leader in innovation. This has to do with the fact that many "entrepreneurs and technicians are notoriously dissatisfied" and therefore strive for product improvements and new ideas. Every second euro in the region is earned from exports. One example of this is TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK, a family business with an international presence but also regional roots and local commitment.

Generic design and additive manufacturing processes

The company's involvement with the Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences and its support for young engineers is particularly noteworthy. This year's TOX-Applied Engineering Award goes to Paul Hecht, who graduated from RWU in 2023 with a degree in mechanical engineering. In his final thesis, supervised by Professor Dr. Theresa Breckle and in cooperation with the company AQUAFLEX in Tettnang, he worked on a special topic: The production of a flow-optimized nozzle body using additive manufacturing methods. This body is used in paper production plants for the continuous cleaning of paper-carrying parts with very high water pressure. The generic design of the body and additive manufacturing processes enable body shapes that generate precise water jets at high pressures.

Visit to one of the 18 subsidiaries worldwide

As a globally active technology company, TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK attaches great importance to highly qualified personnel. In addition to training and further education, the company also attaches great importance to recognizing outstanding academic achievements. The prize is awarded annually to all engineering graduates at RWU. The professors have the right to nominate candidates. The prizewinner is given a fully funded visit to one of the 18 TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK branches around the world of their choice.

The award ceremony took place on February 20, 2024 at the company headquarters in Weingarten. In addition to the award winner and his family, the Rector of the university, Professor Dr. Thomas Spägele, the Managing Director of IHK-Oberschwaben, Dr. Sönke Voss, and the shareholders and managing directors of TOX® PRESSOTECHNIK were also present.
