Important Information About Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illness

"The universities [...] shall ensure that students with disabilities or chronic illnesses are not disadvantaged in their studies and that they can make use of the services offered by the university to the greatest extent possible without external assistance; they shall appoint a representative for this purpose, whose tasks shall be defined in the university constitution."

Baden-Württemberg Higher Education Act §2 (3)

Guidelines on Examinations and Extending the Study Period

Students with disabilities or chronic illness may avail themselves of the special study and examination regulations (SPO) per § 30 (bachelor's programs) or § 27 (master's programs).

Compensation for Disadvantages

Paragraph (2) of the above-mentioned sections provides for compensation for the disadvantages posed by disability and chronic illness. The requirements and application procedure can be found in the SPO (paragraph (3)). Please use the following form: Nachteilsausgleich (Disadvantage Compensation).

Individual Study Plan

Those with disability or chronic illness have the option to create an individualized study plan per paragraph (1) of the sections mentioned above. Please contact the respective head of your study program to arrange this. Further details can be found in the SPO (paragraph (3)).

 

Special Assistance for Erasmus Students

Students with a degree of disability (GdB) of at least 30 (on a scale of 20 - 100) who have received an Erasmus+ scholarship to study or intern abroad in Europe can apply for additional assistance. Please learn more about this from the DAAD and contact the International Office.
