Product development and mechatronic systems

In the laboratory, the mechatronic disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and data processing are combined with thermodynamics. Mechatronics and energy technology systems, which are used, for example, in electric mobility and regenerative energies, are researched and further developed using current technologies.

Heat pump test bench

The heat pump test bench offers the opportunity to develop and test new concepts and solutions in this field. By the construction different heat sources (solar thermal, geothermal and air) and heat sinks (buildings, processes) can be simulated. The aim is to optimise thermal supply systems.

Driving simulator

Project partner:
Simulations are a central part of the development of vehicle concepts. Automated driving and the corresponding steering of vehicles is represented in parts on a steering test bench with a cockpit of a Mercedes Benz vehicle. Here, for example, the realistic driving feel and the influence of parameters such as steering forces are to be investigated and optimised.

Test vehicle

In order to be able to investigate the field of vehicle mechatronics and thermal systems in vehicles more closely, a test vehicle from Daimler AG was procured. The investigations - based on the integration of measurement technology - amount to various tests, e.g. on heating behavior and the corresponding optimization.
